Opposites Attract (Gray x Reader) Pt. 6

Humming (y/n) sat in the living room of the new house her and Gray bought; the small apartment simply wouldn’t do for their growing family. The soon-to-be mother wanted to be comfortable in her final days of pregnancy. She was at the guild all day yesterday with everyone as it was the expected due day. Now she was a day late and she just wanted to spend the day at home relaxing with Gray.

The infirmary at the guild was prepared and set for the birth. Makarov and Porlyusica would be there to help her through it plus of course the father. The father is currently in the nursery fixing the room; straightening up the crib making it look neat and presentable and the changing table making sure everything is where it is supposed to be. (y/n) stood in the door way watching her husband arms crossed resting on her 9-month extended belly.

Turning around Gray saw his wife a smirk on her face. Blinking he looked to her and asked “What?” confused by his lover’s smirk. Chuckling lightly the said woman stood up and slightly waddled over to him “You’re nervous aren’t you? You usually don’t do this kinda thing. The nursery is fine, it was fine yesterday, nothing changed” she said softly looking into his blue orbs. Letting out a nervous sigh he looks to the floor and sat down in the rocking chair in to corner of the room beside the crib. Big cold hands cover his face as he sighs his mind spinning in worry.

“What if I am not a good father? What if I drop the baby? What if the baby ends up hating me?!” he asks completely worrying himself now. He looks up to the fire mage as she walked closer to him sympathy in her eyes and features. “Gray, hush, you are freaking yourself out. You will be a wonderful father, you are a wonderful person and there is no way our child will hate you. We can help each other along the way, there is no such thing as the perfect parent, we will learn as we go so don’t worry alright?” she smiles sweetly and kisses his cheek.

Before the not relaxed father-to-be could say anything a gasp came from the wife’s pink lips. “(y/n) what’s wrong?!” the male asked placing his hands on her shoulders. Eyes wide she looks to him “Gray, my water broke!” In an instant the ice mage was on his feet picking up his wife bridal style. He grabbed a bag of things they had prepared for her. As fast as he feet could carry him Gray ran out of the room and out of the house and into magnolia center through the street shouting apologies and excuse mes pushing through the crowd of people. Some people moved other’s glared as they got pushed but their expressions softened as they saw why they were pushed.

Breathing deeply, sweaty hands gripped the collar of the running husband’s jacket. (y/n) was trying to relax as she had her eyes closed and was thinking pleasant thoughts as the occasional foot or leg would hit someone. Once out of the square the guild was in sight and he ran straight for it shouting to everyone they were coming.

Upon hearing the calls of the exhausted Gray everyone got into gear someone opening the door for the couple to run in. Mira ran over and lead them to the infirmary. Makarov and Porlyusica were in the room prepping the bed for the labor. Placing the pregnant mother on the bed the father helped her change into a gown as everyone left. Upon returning Porlyusica prepped (y/n) giving her certain medicines to help dull the pain and prep her body.

Several hours passed the whole guild waiting in anticipation for the new edition to both fairy tail and the Fullbuster family. The screaming finally ceased and a rare silence enveloped the whole entire guild, all heads outside looking to the door to the infirmary waiting for the news of the gender and name.

Inside the infirmary was a mess, the fire dragon slayer flopped down onto the bed, her hair disheveled and slightly sweaty and her body aching. The bone crushing grip on her husband’s hand ceased, her breaths deep eyes closed as she relaxed. Makarov held the baby in his small arms as he cleaned it with a towel and wrapped it in a white blanket. Porlyusica was cleaning up the afterbirth removing the blood stained towel as well as the no longer pregnant woman’s legs and vitals.

“Congratulations, (y/n), Gray, you have a daughter” Makarov said a smile on his face. Both sets of eyes, blue and (e/c), went wide a smile on each of their faces. The child was handed to (y/n) both newly made parents looked to their child with love and compassion. Small eyes closed keeping the eye close hidden, but the little tuft of hair showed she had the same hair color as her mother. “Gray, it’s a girl, she’s ganna be the biggest daddy’s girl ever! Just don’t give her your stripping habit!!” the newly made mother beamed as she pointing a threatening finger at him yet still had a happy smile upon her lips.

A happy chuckle falls from the father’s lips as he nods “I will try, the only way that would even happen is if she wants to learn ice make magic.” Nodding (y/n) looked down to the newborn in her arms smiling “Yeah, but I’m sure she will want to use your magic, hence the biggest daddy’s girl ever thing.” Shrugging the ice mage looks to his daughter smiling “She needs a name” he commented looking to his wife as she goes into deep thought. “Hmm, with the names we thought of previously I would have to say either Lilly or… Adela” yet again (e/c) looks into blue as a smile rises onto Gray’s features. “Lilly is perfect” he said and they both turned to the daughter in her mother’s arms. “Welcome to the world Lilly Adela Fullbuster” the father said sweetly.

There was cheering from the outside of the infirmary as Master Makarov told everyone the full name and gender of the child that was just brought into the world moments ago. Both parents chuckled as they looked outside to the cheering guild members. Both pairs of eyes looked down to the little bundle of joy the guild is cheering about. Looking to her husband (y/n) rose her arms gently lifting little Lilly Fullbuster “Well Lilly, you know who I am, I’m your mommy (y/n) and I think it’s time you met your father. Lilly, Gray, Gray, Lilly” the loving tone of the mother was heard as she carefully passed little Lilly to her father.

A brighter smile rose onto the male’s face as he held his daughter for the first time. He bent down so his wife could see her as well. “Hey Lilly, I’m Gray, I’m your daddy. While your mommy and I are your family you have a much bigger one too. I’m sure you will love our extended family when you meet them. But I guess for now, welcome to the Fullbuster family Lilly” he said and placed a gentle kiss on her small forehead.

As if on cue the little girl opened her eyes revealing stunning bright blue eyes that mirrored her father’s. Both mother and father looked to their daughter in awe. The small pair of eyes looked from her mother and father and smiles giggling lightly making both parents smile and chuckle as well. They knew the new edition to the family was perfect and beautiful and would be loved by everyone in the family.
